The Advantages and Disadvantages of CNA Certification Online

By Lanee’ Blunt

Online certification programs are popular and are very similar to taking regular training. You must have a high school diploma or GED when entering into a program. There are many schools around the country that offer classes. They offer competitive education that ensures that students learn and can be employed and can advance in the medical facility in which they work in. There are advantages and disadvantages of taking classes on the internet.

Convenience

One advantage is if you are already working a full-time job you don’t have to attend classes every night after work. The distance learning course requires that you attend web lectures, download your course material and participate in group discussions and chat rooms. The course allows you to complete your work at your own schedule. You will be learning over the internet you can do all of your research, set your own hours and stop when you want too.

Flexible schedules

They have very flexible schedules which will allow you to work at your own schedule.  Study when you want to and have the time to do your course work.  There will be some time when you are required to be online simultaneously with your professor, but most times you will not have to be.  It is cost effective and you can save on parking and transportation expenses.

Accreditation

The internet has many scams. Make sure that the school has strong credentials, and has accreditation. You should also make sure that your credit hours are going to be transferable if you want to continue into higher education for example, nursing.  To find potential schools you must do your research and make sure that the school has a good track record before you send them your money.

On Your Own

Another disadvantage is if you are having difficulty with a course you will have lack of direct communication with your professor. You will have email communication but you will have to learn on your own and some subjects may be difficult.  You will have to pass the state exam and it is important that you have an understanding of all of your course work. Some students that are not computer savvy will find it quite difficult.  Another disadvantage is if you have a slow internet connection because this may slow down your computer.
